The Finance function within AAM consists of 2 sub functions: Financial Reporting & Control and Financial Planning and Management Information. Together we are 34 employees who are working in 4 different locations: The Hague, Groningen, Edinburgh and Cedar Rapids (US). The place of employment for this role is until approximately April 2025 The Hague and as of May 2025 Amsterdam. Aegon Asset Management will move to the World Trade Center at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
Financial Reporting & Control consists of separate teams per AAM legal entity and are focused on the administration and reporting of AAM’s legal entities. The Financial Planning & Management Information function is focused on financial business partnering and providing management information (Actuals and Forecast/Budget) to the AAM’s Global business.
Aegon Investment Management B.V.
The Dutch management of investment funds and individual portfolio management and investment advice is positioned in Aegon Investment Management B.V. (AIM). AIM, as part of Aegon Asset Management, is an active, engaged, and responsible investor in The Netherlands. We consider investing responsibly a part of our investment philosophy and process as we believe responsible investment (RI) practices are critical to securing long-term value for our clients. AIM manages and advises on EUR 115 bn AUM and is regulated by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM).
As Financial Controller you will have a significant functional presence and an important role. You have a strong operational profile and a hands-on mentality. You have day to day contact with the business, colleagues on multiple locations, suppliers and customers. You are an enthusiastic team player with ambition and will be part of finance projects to implement process optimizations and automation.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Running and oversight of the day-to-day administration of AIM B.V. and related AAM entities and be involved in the monthly/quarterly closing process of those entities;
- Be involved in the preparation of the internal reporting of financial information to the AAM Global Finance team and the AIM B.V. Management Board;
- Be involved in the preparation of the external reporting to stakeholders: (semi-) annual financial statements and regulatory reporting to the Dutch Central Bank;
- Management supporter within the accounts payable process. The role will be the internal point of contact for the business regarding invoices and the external point of contact for the invoice processing department of Aegon Group and our suppliers.
- Responsible for the accounts receivable and invoicing of clients for AIM B.V.’s 2 NL based locations and accompanying payment process. The role will be the point of contact for the Account Management department and our clients.
- Provide financial support to, challenge and interact with the business.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor (or Master) degree in business administration, accounting, finance or other relevant studies with 3-5 years of relevant working experience.
- Strong operational profile: willing and able to get involved in the businesses
- Proven analytical and communication skills;
- Enthusiastic team player with ambition, outgoing personality and a critical attitude.
- Good in Dutch and English both written and verbally.
- And of course you are professional and conscientious with a good sense of humor.
- Last but not least you have a can-do attitude and you will go the extra mile if needed.
Team
This role is within the AIM B.V.’s Financial Reporting & Control department which is responsible for the general ledger, accounts receivable & payable, monthly closing and all internal and external reporting. The financial control over the reporting includes oversight over the day-to-day administration of AIM B.V. and related AAM entities in the Netherlands. The Financial Reporting & Control team consists of 4 people. The team reports to the Head of AIM B.V.’s Financial Reporting & Control team while the department resorts directly under the AAM’s Global CFO.
