Financial Controller, APAC

The Role

We are seeking a highly-qualified Financial Controller to lead our newly established accounting team in APAC. This individual will be responsible for both the team itself and for all internal and external financial deliverables associated with our foreign management companies located in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Australia.

What you’ll do 

The role will encompass the following:

• Oversight and management of the annual financial statements and audit processes for the region’s entities;
• Collaboration with internal tax and compliance colleagues and external service providers for the submission of various tax filings – GST etc, and the preparation and completion of all regulatory filings;
• Responsibility for the close process for monthly management accounts, which in turn will include hands-on involvement in the preparation of the accounts, maintenance and reconciliation of key balance sheet control accounts and detailed review of trial balances with variance analyses;
• Determining operational funding requirements with overall responsibility for cash management and oversight of the region’s AP function and approval of weekly supplier payments;
• Financial forecasting and capital adequacy calculations for the region’s entities;
• Strong focus on process improvements and continued control environment evolution;
• Management and execution of various ad-hoc finance projects and collaboration with cross functional working groups.
• Responsibility for the development of the accounting team

What you’ll bring

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
• CA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards gained either in-house within financial services or in public accounting
• Strong experience with local regulatory requirements and reporting across jurisdictions in the APAC region
• Good working knowledge of local tax reporting regimes and tax compliance filings
• Strong IT skills including high-level of competency in Excel (e.g. pivot tables, sumifs, index match, etc.)
• Excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail
• High levels of self-organisation and a proactive approach to problem solving

We’d love if you had:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Navision
• Experience of the Pass Through Expense (“PTE”) methodology
