The Financial Analyst position within the Financial Planning & Analysis group will be responsible for consolidating quarterly forecast and annual plan for CIBC Bancorp USA, LLCs and US consolidated operations, monthly reporting and variance analysis, assisting in capital planning, and preparing the quarterly Board of Director reports.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be part of the legal entity and management reporting consolidated reporting and planning team and will be creating presentations for executive management for the legal entity view of the Bank as well as the management reporting view. You will manage a junior analyst and look for opportunities for process improvements, while documenting processes and ensuring proper controls are in place to meet reporting and forecasting standards.

How You'll Succeed
- Reporting & Analysis
- Preparation of the quarterly Board of Director reports and analysis. Provide insightful analysis that identifies the business drivers during the quarter and “tells the story” of the financials.
- Provide variance analysis to executive management for US legal entities.
- Lead the effort to build and redesign reporting as part of our Finance Modernization program.
- Forecasting and Planning
- Build templates and process forecast updates to allow for the consolidation of the US legal entity view of forecasts and plan. Ensure there is proper documentation of all steps.
- Develop relationships within the global finance team to gather and understand inputs into the forecast.
- Own the executive relationship and planning, reporting, and forecasting for assigned business unit.
- Ad Hoc Analysis
- As an output to the forecast process, provide baseline capital planning reporting to Treasury on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with the management reporting financial analysts to find efficiencies in planning both the legal entity and management reporting views.
Knowledge & Skills
- MS Excel (lookups, pivot tables and data manipulation)
- Prepare executive level PowerPoint presentations to “tell the story” of the financials and the business
- Essbase experience required; experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView is a plus, though not required
- Understand banking basics, understand a Bank’s balance sheet and P&L
- The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to lead a team independently
- 5+ years of experience, including Financial Planning or Financial Reporting, preferably in banking industry
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests, frequently working under tight time constraints
- People management skills. Candidates must be comfortable in being a manager and team leader.
- Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days in the office
- Due to the nature of financial reporting, during quarter end reporting cycles, occasional weekend work may be required. Employees receive floating vacation days when weekend work is conducted. Candidates need to be comfortable with such an arrangement.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
