We are looking for a Senior Pricing Actuary to provide technical leadership on pricing projects and to be the lead actuarial business partner for Liability coverages potentially including Casualty, Construction, and Environmental exposures. This role reports to the VP - Head of Pricing, Casualty and may have responsibility for 1 – 2 actuarial analysts.
This position can be located in our New York, Chicago, or San Antonio office and working hybrid schedule (3 days/week) on-site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct profitability analyses and evaluate segment and sub-segment performance to continually improve granular pricing of risk.
- Bring innovative actuarial techniques and approaches to analyzing difficult GL exposures such as low frequency, high severity layers, or construction defect, liquor liability, etc.
- Work closely with business partners and provide direction on ways to improve portfolio performance; become a trusted advisor who brings actuarial insights to promote data-driven decision making.
- Be actuarial pricing lead working with Argo Predictive Modeling to develop predictive analytic pricing approaches for Casualty, Construction, and Environmental.
- Develop reports to assist business in managing key exposures within their portfolios and in monitoring execution of strategic underwriting actions.
- Lead loss ratio planning and reforecast process for designated business units.
- Work cooperatively in a team environment with other functions: underwriting, claims, financial, IT, etc.
- Direct, lead, mentor and develop junior actuarial team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Finance related.
- At least ACAS, FCAS preferred
- 7+ years of actuarial pricing experience, 2 or more specific to Commercial GL; Construction, Excess Casualty, or Environmental Pricing experience preferred. Large Account pricing or Reinsurance Pricing experience also preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to management and other functional areas.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Proven creative problem-solving abilities.
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
TRAVEL: May be some travel; less than 15% of the time.
The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
New York City Pay Range:
$181,400—$217,700 USD
