Position Summary:

The Finance Sr. Manager will report to Illumina’s Innovation Finance Support team. The successful candidate will support strategic plan long range forecasts, business transformational initiative support, overhauling the business case development process utilized in portfolio prioritization, and supporting monthly operational/financial reviews of the R&D Organization. The successful candidate will utilize strong business acumen, deep financial expertise and solid communication to become an effective partner within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, performs, and implements process improvement initiatives (e.g. R&D Operational Excellence Support) and liaisons with cross-functional stakeholders routinely.
  • Analyze, synthesize and translate data into key strategic inputs and insights that will drive strategic decision making at the executive level
  • Provide insight and consolidated information to the Enterprise FP&A team to support Board of Directors decks, corporate performance reports, cost savings initiatives and dashboards
  • Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities, and relevant cost benefit analyses.
  • Supports generating and providing reports, dashboards, and presentations, including Operating/Business Reviews, All-Staff presentations, and trainings on business performance
  • Facilitate long range forecasting, and analysis of risk and opportunities regarding resource forecasting and facilitating advisory meetings for planning execution.
  • Lead or represent the function on select process change and improvement initiatives including in-organic opportunities.
  • Serve as a financial business partner for the R&D Organization, building key relationships and supporting the achievement of the department’s priorities and key objectives
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating plan (budget) and manage monthly and quarterly forecast updates and close process for the R&D Organization
  • Utilize financial systems to complete tasks (i.e. Cognos TM1, Cognos BI, and SAP)
  • Acquire comprehensive understanding of Illumina’s technologies, products and market segment
  • Provide financial modeling, analytics, and general internal Finance support to the R&D Organization
  • Provide insight and consolidated information to the Enterprise FP&A team to support Board of Directors decks, corporate performance reports, cost savings initiatives and dashboards

Experience/Education:

  • At least 8+ years’ experience in a corporate finance role; preferably in a high growth, high innovation environment
  • MBA and management consulting experience preferred

The estimated base salary range for the Finance Sr. Manager, R&D (Hybrid/Remote) role based in the United States of America is: $138,800 - $208,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
