What's the opportunity?
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Finance & Operation Manager to oversee the financial and operational functions of our company in Malta. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong financial acumen and a proven track record in managing complex operations. The entity in Malta is licensed as a Payment Institution with the MFSA and requires a Pq'd position (regulatory approval).
What will I be doing?
- Handle general accounting and financial reporting responsibilities, including the preparation of monthly management accounts and other financial reports.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, volume data, and other key insights to the executive committee (EXCO) and board of directors.
- Draft financial statements for the group entities based in Malta.
- Act as the primary point of contact with external and internal auditors.
- Oversee tax reporting, including the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns and the annual income tax return.
- Manage regulatory reporting, ensuring timely preparation and submission of reports to the MFSA and Central Bank of Malta.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the MFSA and Central Bank of Malta, addressing queries related to regulatory returns, particularly those concerning the safeguarding of client funds.
- Evaluate current procedures, implementing improvements or new processes as needed, and ensure their effective maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures for client funds and adherence to relevant regulations.
- Maintain compliance with capital requirements, ensuring they are met consistently.
- Monitor various outsourced functions monthly, as specified under the updated outsourcing agreement, including Finance, Tax, Client Treasury, Corporate Treasury, Business Assurance, and Operations.
- Participate in project discussions and implementations, including initiatives related to ESG and CESOP.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks as required
What skills do I need?
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Based in Malta.
- Experience in the industry in a similar role or have knowledge of the payments industry.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with financial software and systems (e.g., ERP, accounting software).
- Excellent English communication skills.
- You are resilient and have the capacity to challenge and influence while remaining focused on growing a sustainable business.
- You are a team player that does not shy away from taking ownership.
- You can structure and prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and drive a process to completion.
- You are proactive in problem-solving.
