We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Finance Manager to support, grow, and lead our lean financial operations team. We see the entire picture, and are a cornerstone to driving the right allocation of resources, maintaining controllership, and distilling down the right stories to push our business forward.
This impactful Finance Manager role oversees a diverse set of financial functions, focusing on the complexities of healthcare. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficiency in our accounting and treasury processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare comprehensive financial reporting and present insights to management, highlighting potential risks, opportunities and actionable recommendations.
- Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to operational and executive teams, providing data-driven recommendations to optimize business performance. Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment on financial goals and performance metrics. Utilize financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Support the leadership team in making informed, data-driven decisions.
- Accounting Operations: Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, while analyzing variances and providing insights to management. Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations as part of the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Maintain and enhance the accounting policies and procedures that address the unique and evolving needs of a high-growth healthcare start-up to support scalability and align with internal objectives. Work closely with outsourced accounting partners, external auditors, and tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
- Cashflow Management: Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring timely processing and reconciliation. Oversee the customer invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing of employers, patients, health plans, and third-party administrators. Monitor and analyze billing and collection trends to support the development and implementation of actionable cash management strategies. Monitor and manage financial risk, cash flow, and working capital. Collaborate with People Operations to provide support to the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
- Cost Management: Monitor and assess cost structures across departments, service lines, and CloudClinic locations, providing recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement. Develop and implement a comprehensive vendor management strategy. This includes vendor negotiations, contracts, and performance to ensure optimal value and service delivery, while implementing initiatives to optimize payment terms and drive cost savings.
- Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Develop and maintain financial models that integrate operational data, market trends, and strategic initiatives to support decision-making, including forecasting, scenario planning, build vs. buy and sensitivity analysis. Ensure accuracy and reliability of forecasts in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Financial Systems & Data Analytics: Utilize advanced financial systems and tools (e.g., Sage Intacct, Tableau) to gather insights, track KPIs, and report on financial and operational performance. Ensure that financial data is accurate, accessible, and actionable for the leadership team. Design and implement scalable systems, processes and controls to support the company’s growth and evolving needs.
- Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to financial policies, regulations, and industry standards, including those specific to healthcare finance. Coordinate with the cross-functional, internal and external teams ensure proper accounting for healthcare revenue streams, reimbursements, and regulatory compliance. Maintain and enhance financial systems and tools to optimize financial reporting and automation.
- Team Leadership: Build, lead and mentor a lean and high-performing team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high standards of financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting necessary to guide decision-making in a high-growth organization. Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Qualified candidates should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial operations, or a similar role, preferably in a start-up, SaaS, or healthcare-related company – with a focus on financial reporting, cost accounting, and cash management. Experience with multi-entity healthcare organizations is considered a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software (Sage Intacct considered a plus).
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and financial analysis tools (e.g., Sage Intacct, Tableau).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced startup environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while hitting aggressive timelines and firm deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
- Proven track record of building and scaling financial and accounting processes in high-growth organizations.
- High level understanding and experience in overseeing cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping.
- Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
- Ability to manage, guide and lead employees and accounting partners to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
