The Finance Division is seeking a Finance Data Strategy Specialist to oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing support of a comprehensive finance data strategy. This role will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the effective management, governance, and utilization of financial data across the Company including the Business Data & Analytics and P&C IT teams. It will play a crucial role in supporting Workday roadmap initiatives (AFG’s ERP system) and finance transformation efforts.
This position will be on a hybrid schedule and will work out of our Cincinnati, OH office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, steward and continually evolve Great American’s finance data strategy
- Establish and articulate a holistic finance data strategy focused on leveraging Workday and aligning to enterprise data technology strategy
- Coordinate with finance SMEs to document and communicate financial data model (FDM)
- Determine governance framework for managing and updating financial data model
- Document financial terms and calculations creating consistency across the business where appropriate
- Drive efforts to centralize and streamline financial calculations
- Define financial data roles and responsibilities, ensuring clear ownership and accountability
- Develop and maintain an inventory of financial calculations and data flow diagrams.
- Provide subject matter expertise to Workday team on finance data model and sign off on related changes
- Oversee development of financial reporting
- Develop and maintain an inventory of financial reporting
- Support the development of reports to aid in filings, annual statement needs, and management reporting
- Provide thought leadership in evolving financial reporting and analytics to meet variety of business needs
- Lead finance involvement in IT and Business Data & Analytics teams’ data initiatives
- Gather insights from business leaders across the Company to drive strategy and report development
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, financial data management or a related role.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, calculations, and data governance frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to drive strategic initiatives and adapt to evolving business needs.
- Proficiency in Workday and other data analysis tools preferred.
