About the job

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Core Services team in Manchester city centre. Our Core Services team act as a bridge between internal colleagues and external partners, they resolve payment queries, address discrepancies, and foster strong, trusted relationships.

You'll manage key financial transactions such as processing purchase orders, invoices, and expenses through refunds or raising virtual cards for purchasing goods and services. Externally, you'll liaise with suppliers to guarantee prompt payments, and work to daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines; overall working in a smooth and efficient way that keeps Auto Trader operating seamlessly.

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll enjoy a role that’s both people-focused and process-driven. As you’ll interact frequently with colleagues and suppliers, excellent customer service skills are a must. The team also monitor a messaging channel for colleague queries so it's important to be able to communicate processes and procedures in a way that is easy to understand. Experience in Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable is a bonus, it’s not essential. You might also think a love of cars is a must to work here, but that's not the case!

  • Great organisational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to prioritise enabling you to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to build and develop positive relationships particularly by phone and by email.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment with good understanding of internal and external customer needs

We’re offering a salary of £25,000 - £28,000, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares. And you'll receive 29 days holiday, plus bank holidays and comprehensive private medical cover.
