The Field Underwriting Specialist is responsible for providing efficient and prompt on site/in the field underwriting while servicing increasingly complex accounts in accordance with established guidelines and business objectives in the achievement of national standards for data quality and service level agreements. The incumbent will be expected to solve complex problems by applying a broad perspective to identify solutions and also in interpreting internal and external business issues and recommending best practices. The Field Underwriting Specialist is also responsible for identifying, investigating and developing new and expanded business opportunities to contribute to corporate objectives.

If you have:

  • Post-secondary school education and/or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Completion of the CIP and/or FCIP designation.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in the property and casualty or auto industry, ideally with a strong emphasis on account management
  • Working knowledge of company underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting/technical manual information, statuary constraints, and computer workflow procedures.
  • Ability to work with e-mail and Internet skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Fluently bilingual (English / French) is a definite asset (a requirement in Quebec Region).
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of underwriting discipline and pricing models. 
  • Proficient at identifying opportunity, developing strategy, organizing resources and executing plans.
  • Previous experience with the territory serviced, and competitor’s activity in the marketplace
  • Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record
