Job Summary
The Field Finance Specialist Senior is responsible for Program augmentation deployments based on customer requirements and working with the customer for a smooth transition of handing over all responsibilities. The Senior Specialist also provides support on special projects assigned by corporate headquarters or programs and ensures all tasks assigned are completed in a timely manner.
Principal Accountabilities
Program augmentation and backfilling of finance positions in programs, as and when required.
Support new contract start-up and contract close-out requirements.
Prepare and analyze given projects in relation to reconciliations, documentation retrieval, accounting, research or analysis and action these within given deadlines.
Prepare, maintain and analyze “Program Performance” through the PMP Matrix and provide support required to take corrective action related to processes/procedures in the program.
Develop a thorough understanding of all relevant policies/procedures, program-specific policies/procedures and actively work to enhance the knowledge base in AP, T&L, Payroll, Cash Management, Billing and Project Accounting
Review program-specific procedures and work instructions before deployment.
Review and compare program policies with corporate policies for compatibility including Right Shoring locations.
Establish strong and professional relationships with all program finance and field staff.
Ensure cross-training and knowledge sharing with team members to ensure continuity and resource availability.
Supervise daily activities of assigned staff to ensure efficiencies in compliance with corporate, government contractual and legal requirements as well as review work prepared by others and provide constructive comments and/or suggestions to foster efficiencies and improvements for the department.
Perform month/quarter/annual close activities which may include analyzing accounts, performing calculations, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliation, preparing reports and financial statements, and resolving issues as needed.
Perform additional tasks/projects as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
Title of Direct Report(s): Accountant I
Title of Supervisor: Time & Labor Manager or other management as business dictates.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of generally accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required. Strong and in-depth knowledge of accounting.
Strong knowledge of spreadsheet and relational database programs for data processing techniques.
Ability to perform data extraction and manipulation, analyze financial data, and generate reports.
Ability to work with numbers and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, work with little supervision, and work well under pressure. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word and understanding of MS Access.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation skills.
Strong knowledge of Cost Point, COGNOS and OnBase, and/or experience in handling accounting/project accounting in reputed ERP systems.
Experience & Education
Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in accounting/project accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
MBA/CA/CPA preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Work may require exposure to harsh living conditions that could be remote and uncomfortable.
Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend.
Work may require exposure to adverse weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions.
Travel
Willingness to travel at short notice, to potentially hostile countries such as Iraq and Africa etc. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as the position requires frequent travel to different countries as required.
