Brief Overview of Position

 

Our field exam team is an integral part of the due diligence and credit decision process at Texas Capital. Field examiners will review, analyze, and test the quality and accuracy of the books and records and accounting processes of prospective and existing borrowers and write thorough, informative reports for the use of deals teams, credit officers, and member of senior management.

 

Responsibilities 

To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to process large amounts of information and communicate in a clear and concise manner, all while maintaining a strong attention to detail. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Independently conduct all aspects of the field exam process, including the pre-exam preparation, onsite exam procedures, analysis, and inspections, and the post-exam report preparation and recommendations. 

  • Participate in discussions with borrower leadership and bank decision makers on any follow-up questions and considerations about the company and the credit structure. 

  • Evaluate available information and requests/obtain additional information as needed to fully assess the company's accounting processes and the key characteristics of the proposed working capital collateral. Determine recommendations for credit structure and/or additional due diligence necessary to appropriately evaluate the risks associated with the company's financial records and the working capital assets as collateral.

  • Work with borrower and bank personnel to ensure that all parties are informed of reporting requirements, collateral calculation methodology, and other relevant findings of the field examination.

  • Prepare a thorough, well researched, and well presented field examination report for Texas Capital decision makers, including originators, credit offers, and senior management.

  • When required, travel onsite to borrower locations for the purposes of performing inventory test counts and other in-person exam processes.

  • Assist with other credit administration projects as needed 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 

  • Must be willing to travel approximately 30-40%

  • Solid relationship building skills with clients, prospective clients, and team members 

  • Solid understanding of banking regulations and processes 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability in communicating effectively, both verbally and written 

  • Work independently with a minimum amount of supervision 

  • Well organized and detail oriented to handle diverse and concurrent assignments

  • Strong Microsoft application knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook) and aptitude for grasping and using various bank software applications 

  • Relevant audit or field exam experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
