Federal Government Affairs, U.S. External Affairs - Vice President
Opportunity:
We are seeking an accomplished government affairs executive with a proven record of creating and executing complex advocacy strategies to drive business results. The Vice President of Federal Government Affairs will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the Genentech policy agenda and engagement strategies with federal policymakers, trade associations and key stakeholders.
The position necessitates an experienced strategic leader and people manager that will influence cross portfolio, field and global teams and stakeholders. The role will lead a dedicated and talented team within the External Affairs organization within the Public Affairs and Access department, guiding efforts to enhance the market performance of our products and pipeline across each therapeutic brand.
The role must have a comprehensive understanding of the nuances of U.S. healthcare policy and advocacy environment, the relationship to the geopolitical climate with the goal of achieving significant policy and advocacy advancements for organizational-wide impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement comprehensive federal advocacy campaigns to influence policy decisions and advance business objectives.

Drive and actively manage a diverse team of government affairs professionals, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Act as a senior advisor to senior, global, and executive leadership on federal government affairs policies and strategies that have business critical impact on the largest payor of GNE (government agencies and programs).
Policy Expertise:

Provide advanced knowledge and insights on the biopharmaceutical business and policy environments.

Monitor and analyze federal legislative and regulatory developments affecting the biopharmaceutical industry.

Formulate and advocate for company positions on key policy issues.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Lead and maintain and grow strong relationships with federal policymakers, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.

Collaborate and lead with internal teams, including other EA policy and advocacy departments, Commercial, Legal, and global, to ensure cohesive and compliant policy positions and advocacy efforts.

Lead strategist with External Affairs International as well as other affiliations within the Roche Group (FMI, Spark, DIA)
Communication:

Experienced principal executive for the company's federal government affairs activities who communicates internally and externally advocacy positions.

Communicate complex policy issues and advocacy strategies to senior executives, employees, and external stakeholders.

Develop and oversee the execution of effective communication plans.
Who you are:
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelors Degree at a minimum, Masters degree preferred

15+ years of experience leading comprehensive government affairs advocacy, and legislative engagement strategies, and healthcare policy enactment.

Proven experience as an accomplished government affairs executive with a track record of successful advocacy campaigns, strategies

Advanced knowledge of the biopharmaceutical business and policy environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multifaceted teams and stakeholders effectively.

Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Highly collaborative across the Commercial and Global Organization.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to navigate complex scenarios and environments.

Location:
This role is based on our Washington D.C. Genentech Campus with an onsite presence required. Relocation assistance is not being provided.
Salary:
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Washington D.C. is $290,480 - $381,255. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for benefits.
