The Executive Director of M365 Operations reports to the PoA Lead for M365 and Identity. The candidate will lead and oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and management of Microsoft 365 (M365) operations within the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective use of M365 tools to enhance productivity, collaboration, and communication across all departments. The Executive Director will work closely with IT, business leaders, and stakeholders to drive digital transformation initiatives and optimize M365 capabilities, ensure adherence to governance, risk and compliance standards.
This role is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and operational support of all M365 platform services within the SPE organization, ensuring that SLAs and KPIs for M365 platform services are consistently met to support business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive M365 operations strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement M365 solutions that drive efficiency and innovation.
- Primary point of contact accountable for the daily 24/7 operations of M365 services, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for M365 projects and initiatives.
- Continuously develop and execute initiatives to standardize, optimize, and modernize the M365 environment practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and security standards within the M365 platform management domains.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify business needs and opportunities for M365 enhancements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for M365-related inquiries and issues.
- Analyze and address platform performance, cost, and scalability considerations while delivering measurable improvements in service levels and user satisfaction.
- Oversee the development and implementation of policies, standards, and best practices for M365 and identity management operations.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of M365 operations and initiatives.
- Regularly report on performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement to senior management.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and training opportunities to team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of experience in managing complex, cross-functional IT projects, including resource planning and financial oversight.
- Ability to evaluate cost-benefit analyses and implement cost-saving measures.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform and Entra ID.
- Extensive knowledge of identity management technologies and security protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, MFA).
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for managing M365 environments (e.g., PowerShell, Graph API).
- 7+ years of experience implementing and managing compliance, security, and data governance features in M365.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, identity management, and enterprise-grade IT operations.
- Proficiency in automation, monitoring, and analytics tools for managing large-scale environments.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $205,000-258,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
