What You'll Do:

Senior technology leader providing strategic direction while driving exceptional technology outcomes in a very dynamic and fast paced environment. Manage staffing and ensure that 24/7 coverage is always present. Provide guidance and ensure that reports are trained and able to execute on current, and new responsibilities using cutting edge technologies. Must be experienced in running Technology Operations at scale across a diverse technology stack. Work closely with a broad cross-section of the organization including the following teams: Production Control, Production Support, Release Management, Platform Services, Storage, Unix, Networking, Business Operations, Change/Problem/Incident Management. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that Production runs as efficiently as possible by being an evangelist for Continues Improvement (CI), and being a technical liaison to teams to ensure that operational readiness best practices are being adhered to

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Focus on shifting the overall operational posture from re-active to pro-active

  • Partner with vendors to provide best in class technology operating models

  • Direct team to analyze and report upon Production performance CI opportunities

  • Direct team to analyze and report upon Production capacity CI opportunities

  • Stand-up SWAT’s if when needed to drive resolution of ongoing Production issues

  • Leads team to Identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting Production performance

  • Focuses the team to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, take appropriate corrective actions and/or interact with IT-staff/vendors in performing complex testing, support, and troubleshooting functions

  • Move between tactical & strategic (ie. Forecast system demands and recommend upgrades, expansions and reconfigurations if/when needed)

  • Consult & evangelize for operational best practices

  • Collaborate across domains (ie. network, db, etc.) to assist with application tuning

  • Adhere to any/all Production security requirements and best practices

  • Adhere to, and advocate for, all ITIL processes (i.e. Incident, Problem, & Change)

  • Actively participate in Incident, Problem & Change as a ‘shepherd’ for all things Production

  • Analyze repeating alerts to pro-actively identify environmental issues

  • Surface any/all environmental & operational risks identified

  • Evangelize for repeatably automated processes that can be scaled

  • Prioritizes and align efforts to Production availability requirements and business priorities

  • After hours, weekend work may be required during off hours maintenance windows.

Education and/or Experience:

  • [Required] Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related discipline

  • [Required] 10+ years’ experience production systems operations or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • [Required] The qualified candidate demonstrates a strong ability to multi-task in an environment of constantly changing priorities

  • At least 7+ years’ experience successfully managing technical teams

Certificates or Licenses:

  • [Preferred] Industry certifications in the areas of ITIL

  • [Preferred] Industry certifications in the areas of Cloud

  • [Preferred] Industry certifications in the areas of Monitoring & Observability

Compensation

  • The salary range listed for any given position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at OCC, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education.
  • In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
  • We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package as noted on www.theocc.com/careers
  • All employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, company and individual performance and are not guaranteed.

Salary Range

$184,600.00 - $270,600.00

Incentive Range

28% to 35%

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award, for which the target range is listed above (see Incentive Range). The amount of such award, if any, will be based on various factors, including without limitation, both individual and company performance.
