Environmental Team Lead
Huntsman is seeking an Environmental Team Lead supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the EHS Manager.
Job Scope
The Environmental Team Lead role reports to the Conroe EH&S Sr. Manager and is directly responsible for ensuring Huntsman Conroe maintains compliance with all state and federal environmental rules and laws as well as corporate policies and procedures. Participates in formulating plant administrative policies, practices and procedures as related to environmental matters.
As the Environmental Team Lead, you will:
- Direct activities of the Conroe plant environmental group.
- Consult and advises plant management and supervisor on all environmental compliance issues.
- Support and participate in all process safety management (PSM) compliance efforts, including management of change (MOCs), process hazards analyses (PHAs), incident investigations and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs).
- Awareness of reports routine communications and interactions with Agencies and oversight of reports non-routine communications and interactions with Agencies.
- Review, develop and ensure timely submittal of environmental reports to government agencies as required by law and/or permit.
- Develop direct reports to ensure succession plan is satisfied.
- Coordinate with reports and EHS Sr. Manager in development of environmental budget and tracking of monthly expenditures.
- Oversee the environmental compliance database and ensures it is updated and current.
- Provide operations with technical support for waste and stormwater/wastewater management as an individual contributor.
- Identify, recommend, and oversee environmental continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain the Sustainability Corporate metrics database.
- Prepare for and participates in internal and external safety and environmental audits as they relate to contractors.
- Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Assist other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering or related technical field with 10+ years of relevant working experience in an EHS role.
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
- Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of federal regulatory code US EPA 40 CFR, such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) 30 TAC rules, especially Permit By Rule (PBRs), New Source Review (NSR), Air Operating permits (Title V), Wastewater, Stormwater, etc.
- Familiar with industry standards and recommended practices (NFPA, ACGIH, ANSI, etc.) preferred
- Ability to plan, delegate, and organize tasks to consistently produce results, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to function efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with multiple layers of the organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM or relevant professional certification is a plus
