Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist Intern to join our Remediation team in our Buffalo, New York office. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients.

This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing field data under the supervision of an experienced team member to be used in the preparation of scientific reports.
  • Preparing high-quality figures, data tables, and technical reports.
  • Participating in site visits.
  • Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications. 
  • Attending meetings and preparing meeting minutes. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or other closely related field and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with field data collection, data review, and preparation of technical documents.
  • GIS knowledge and experience.
  • Initiative-taking individual with a strong attention to detail, good time-use skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage the demands of multiple priorities for various projects.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.
