Job Responsibilities:
This position will be part of a new start-up joint venture between LM Manufacturing and Magna Seating. The seating JIT Assembly is located in Detroit, Michigan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and Manage EHS Programs:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs in compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Manage safety and environmental training, lead key initiatives (e.g., Joint Health & Safety Committee, ISO 14001), and liaise with regulatory agencies.
- Develop short- and long-term EHS strategies aligning with regulatory requirements and corporate objectives.
- Maintain the Division's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and manage regulatory permits and pollution prevention efforts.
Ensure Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, address safety concerns, and oversee incident investigations and reporting.
- Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and manage the Division's Workers Compensation program.
- Track and analyze safety data for continuous improvement and lead incident investigations and corrective action planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws/regulations, and drive improvements through audits and behavior-based safety.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team, ensuring team performance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide necessary training and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Develop and manage the EHS department budget.
- Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee and Ergonomics program, conduct ergonomic assessments, and respond to reports of injuries and accidents.
- Ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors by maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.
Education/Certification/Licensure:
- Bachelors Degree in Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) year of safety, ergonomic and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
