About the role
We’re seeking an Environment Specialist- NSW to support the operational environment management of our NSW assets.
You’ll join an innovative team, that works with every part of the business and strives for excellence in everything they do.

Day-to-day, you will:

Support the New South Wales team by providing environmental advice, implementing, reviewing and further developing the environmental management system

Manage our environmental risks and routinely review environmental datasets (e.g., water and air quality), identify trends or areas for improvement, and notify stakeholders of any emerging risks.

Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including management of specialist consultants/ contractors, reviewing data collected/ provided and reviewing contractor reports.

Maintain key business relationships, provide strong environmental leadership and a strong compliance focus while championing continuous improvement across the region.

Deliver a high-quality environmental support services to the business, while shaping our overall HSE culture.

Assist with all aspects of environmental inspections, audits, reporting and data management, including water quality, groundwater, road traffic noise, contaminated land and hazardous substances management, flora and fauna, waste management, cultural heritage, ambient and in tunnel air quality.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

Extensive experience working in an operational or major projects environment, especially in infrastructure (highly regarded).

Degree level qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences, Earth Sciences or equivalent.

Strong working knowledge and practical application of environmental legislation, standards, and codes across the New South Wales region together.

A solid background in liaison with Government agencies and Councils in relation to environmental issues, initiatives and compliance.

Experience in implementation and assurance of environmental and/or integrated management systems documentation.

Familiarity with the requirements and application of ISO14001.

Great communication and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
