This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse technology specialists and engineers, you will lead and facilitate the efforts to resolve selection, organization, and integration of software technology components required to support the current and emerging business capability needs of the enterprise. This position will be focused on enabling the architecture to generate a digital thread through MBSE, digital factory, and test and flight operation capabilities. This position will provide oversight and mentorship for the application development community responsible for developing and maintaining Blue Origin’s internal software assets, vendor/partner resources, and will collaborate with all functions and levels within our enterprise in order to set standards and direction for our systems landscape. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of technology, applications, industry standard methodologies, business processes and architectural patterns to drive business and IT transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead key aspects and supporting the execution of multi-year technology strategies, projects, and ensure alignment to technology standards.

  • Analyze and evaluate cloud solutions and set standards for both adoption and usage patterns, specifically for Engineering, Manufacturing and Flight Ops systems. Expand to Finance and Corp Services as the role evolves.

  • Partner with the functional IT teams (i.e. applications and operations) to ensure that solutions align to reference architecture model and technology strategy.

  • Lead technology evaluation and selection efforts in various domains and ensure that the appropriate standards are defined and kept current.

  • Lead the development of a Reference architecture and technical standards and user guidelines based on industry trends, innovation and business drivers.

  • Provide strong functional thought leadership and consulting in the respective domain and be an advisor to the business and strategy leads on Industry standard methodologies.

  • Lead transition of our software technology portfolio of services to rationalize the portfolio aligned to the Enterprise technology and system strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field

  • 7 years of experience in IT system design or architecture

  • 3 years of architecture experience at an enterprise level

  • 4 Years of proven experience leading technical teams with or without direct reports

  • Experience defining target state architectures and roadmaps

  • Experience working in a large matrixed organization

  • Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior leadership

  • Experience delivering architecture solutions in an agile environment

  • Experience in cross-domain IT architecture

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of driving and leading large-scale architectural or delivery projects throughout an entire business through to completion.

  • Strong technology experience, preferably past delivery lead and architecture role experience of multiple technologies including but not limited to multiple engineering technologies (Siemens TeamCenter, PTC, ClearCase, Ansys, Planview, Creo, AutoCAD, Solidworks, MATLAB etc.), IIoT technologies (for e.g. IoT gateways, etc.), Manufacturing Execution Management systems, common knowledge of cloud, automation, APIs, Security, networking and data/ integration architectures

  • Exposure to various aspects of architecture practices: business, application, data, security, infrastructure, and governance. Working knowledge of various architecture frameworks

  • Expertise with different architecture and design patterns (e.g. OO, Top-down, component-based design, SOA, RESTful APIs, cloud, micro-services) and tools


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $164,415.00-$230,179.95

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
