As Enterprise Payments Architect, you’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing our billing and payment processing systems. This role requires an in-depth technical understanding of various payment methods and industry-standard bank file formats including, but not limited to, NACHA, ISO 20022, BAI, and XML. You will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless execution of billing and payment technical operations, from invoice through to payment, including refund and chargeback handling.

What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain expertise in all domestic and international payment methods and standards relevant to our operations.
- Support Engineering teams with the design, implementation, and management of technical solutions for billing and payment systems, ensuring robustness and compliance with global financial regulations.
- Support Insurance teams with the full end-to-end billing and payment processes to support our insurance programs.
- Analyze and optimize payment processes to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and ensure security.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to integrate new technologies and systems that enhance payment capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to payment processing, including transaction failures, discrepancies, and non-compliance issues.
- Provide technical support and training to team members on new payment systems and updates.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements in global payment rails and billing systems.
- Support annual PCI DSS assessment and compliance initiatives.
- Ongoing evaluation of the existing Hagerty billing and payment ecosystem and maintain source documentation / payment flow diagrams.
- Lead Treasury billing and payment initiatives
This might describe you
- Proven technical expertise with bank file standards such as NACHA, ISO 20022, BAI, and SWIFT.
- Strong experience in technical design and operation of billing and payment systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of the payment lifecycle, including invoicing, payment processing, refunds, and chargebacks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Information Technology, Computer Science, or Finance Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong work experience in billing and payment systems with focus on technical integration and system design
- Insurance billing system experience is a plus

- This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location.
- Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
