PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Engineering Manager main responsibilities will include;

  • The incumbent ensures effective management of all elements of the role in compliance with the requirements specified per Abbott Diagnostics Division Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Maintain records and documentation on relevant Engineering Procedures.
  • Leads and liaises with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers.
  • Supports Strategic plans for the implementation of equipment projects to support the site and division strategy.
  • Supports the implementation of equipment projects.
  • Supports in the management and coordination of site and divisional engineering projects from inception to completion through to subsequent hand-over.

The primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager will include the following:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the role out of department goals, schedules and timetables for activities.
  • Comply with all training requirements as assigned and maintain compliance to training requirements in the team.
  • Ensure team executes validations as defined.
  • Identify and execute the implementation of equipment/process upgrade/s in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Support team to ensure they Plan, Supervise and coordinate the activities of all external contractors and consultants involved with project execution.
  • Maintain relevant departmental budgets support to ensure within target and implement CIP/BEx projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards for the buildings and associated facilities, utilities and equipment.
  • Develop monthly (or otherwise) area metrics and management reports. Accountable for relevant actions to address metrics.
  • Understands engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques.
  • Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks.
  • Interacts cross functionally with teams across the division.
  • Compiles technical rationales for design plans, validation, and quality records.
  • Utilization of control systems such as CMSNext, POEE, DHM, BMS, CTMS.
  • Transfer knowledge and give direction where necessary.
  • Plan, implement and supports the management of engineering projects at each phase including planning, design, RCE funding documentation, installation, commissioning/validation and hand-over to client as required.
  • Deliver right first time reports for process Verification/Validations, URS, Engineering Studies.
  • Can develop complex test strategies, write protocols, summarise statistical data and write reports without oversight.

EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:

A trade cert or third level qualification in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant or equivalent experience in an engineering or technical /scientific related role in a healthcare or food processing industry. Demonstrated leadership experience is essential for this role
