Role Overview

We seek an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow our engineering teams while driving technical excellence and delivery. This role combines people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to build high-performing teams and deliver impactful solutions. The Engineering Manager will develop engineers, manage project delivery, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve business objectives while maintaining a healthy engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead high-performing engineering teams by effectively hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance management while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, establish delivery timelines, and ensure alignment between technical capabilities and business objectives.
  • Drive engineering excellence by establishing and maintaining development processes, quality standards, and best practices while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage project planning and execution across multiple teams, ensuring efficient resource allocation, risk management, and timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Lead regular 1:1s, team meetings, and performance reviews to provide guidance, remove obstacles, and support career development for team members.
  • Balance technical debt management with new feature development, making strategic system improvements and maintenance decisions.
  • Collaborate with other engineering managers and technical leaders to ensure consistency in engineering practices and cross-team coordination.
  • Implement and maintain engineering metrics to track team health, project progress, and system performance while driving data-informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years of people management experience leading engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and system architecture.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams while maintaining team health and productivity.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and project management, with the ability to balance competing priorities and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, CI/CD practices, and modern engineering tools.
  • Excellence in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing budgets, resource planning, and operational processes.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience managing on-site engineering teams.
  • Background in implementing engineering practices that support rapid scaling.
  • Knowledge of data-driven engineering management and team performance metrics.
  • Experience with organisational change management and process improvement.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and culture.
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers in leadership roles.
