Your role
The Site Reliability Engineering team at Forto is responsible for reliability and developer experience. We enable our development teams to write complex business logic by providing best-in-class tooling and infrastructure. The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team is responsible for developing and maintaining the authentication and authorization services for our self-developed platform and employee-facing systems. We have a production environment based on GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm. On top of that, we have self-service tools written in Typescript and a bit of Go.“You build it, you run it” is a goal for our developers. We love to improve our engineers' lives so they can build, run, observe, and generally own the software they write on all levels.
You will
- Lead two highly interconnected teams of platform engineers and software developers.
- Help develop a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables, adjusting well-defined processes to changing business requirements and ensuring roadmap delivery.
- Establish high technical standards through processes and culture.
- Mentor and coach engineers to help them create a fulfilling career and build individual solid contributors and leaders.
- Work across functions within engineering and product to drive developer experience and site reliability topics.
- Improve team autonomy by enabling & empowering Forto engineers to own security, reliability, and observability as non-functional requirements of their products.
- Ensure roadmap delivery, align the team on the implementation path of product strategy, and balance the needs of building, maintaining, refactoring, scaling, and extending features to support the technology's life properly.
What You Bring
- At least 8 years of Engineering experience and 4 years of Engineering Management experience. Existing expertise in Platform Engineering is required.
- Ability to attract, hire, and coach world-class engineers. You can uplevel existing teams by hiring top-notch senior talent, growing leaders, and helping struggling members. You can gain the trust of the team and guide their careers.
- You navigate and lead a team through challenging situations.
- You enjoy building an agile and blameless culture plus an organization from scratch.
- You like to iterate on problems instead of making and syncing big plans upfront.
- You know how to drive a cross-functional change.
- You have a solid understanding of cloud and platform technologies.
