Simulmedia is seeking an experienced and strategic Engineering Lead, Data, to join our Data Engineering team. In this senior role, you will lead the development and management of our data processing systems and services, supporting our advanced streaming advertising platform. You will be a hands-on leader, driving the adoption of new tools and paradigms and ensuring the availability and integrity of our data. This role requires a solid ability to coach and manage junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
This position is located in Kyiv or Lviv, Ukraine. The core team is located in Lviv and primarily works remotely with occasional team meetings in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
● Strategic Data Leadership:
○ Develop and implement a strategic vision for our data architecture, considering new tools, technologies, and paradigms to enhance our data systems.
○ Lead the design and development of data services and processing systems that support our platform's needs.
● Team Management and Coaching:
○ Coach and manage junior team members, providing guidance and mentorship to foster their professional growth.
○ Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
● Collaboration and Optimization:
○ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, product managers, and designers, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of data solutions.
○ Continuously optimize data systems and services for performance, scalability, and reliability.
● Data Integrity and Accessibility:
○ Ensure the availability and integrity of data throughout the company, making it easily accessible for various teams.
○ Implement and maintain data governance and security practices to protect sensitive information.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
● 7+ years of work experience as a data engineer, with a proven track record of strategic leadership in data architecture and services.
● Strong hands-on experience in Python, SQL, and REST API development.
● Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS, and containerized applications.
● Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
● Strong understanding of data modeling, relational databases, and engineering best practices.
● Ability to communicate effectively with U.S-based teams and work 11 am - 8 pm EEST.
Bonus Points for:
● Advanced certifications in data engineering or cloud services.
● Experience with big data technologies and data warehousing solutions.
