The Position
This position is responsible for the ownership of the Engineering Data Management System (EDMS) while collaborating with the Engineering team to provide necessary documentation, quality system interaction, and performing a variety of highly diverse and complex activities requiring sound planning, organization, judgement, adaptability, and accountability. This role requires prior CAD experience as they will support the CAD Specialist with CAD drawings as needed. The Engineering Area Data Specialist will function as a Technical "Librarian" actively organizing a variety of documentation for the Engineering Department from outside vendors related to equipment specs, spare parts, turnover packages, owner's manuals, maintenance, and more.
This is an onsite based role 5 days per week Monday-Friday.

Essential Functions

  • Engineering Data can include engineering models, drawings, Vendor Data, Engineering/Construction Projects turnover data (electronic and hardcopy), commissioning documents, validations, engineering test plans, SOPs, etc.
  • The engineering data management area is responsible for establishing engineering data management storage systems, standards, guidelines and assurance of availability of engineering data, logical data storage, capacity planning, data interface specification, data uploading plan, data maintenance plan and security/access policy
  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) of the Engineering Data Management System (EDMS) including but not limited to independently ensuring efficient, useful and effective workflow, data entry, revising, formatting, scanning, printing, distributing, organizing, approval routing, progress tracking, archiving, linking data, and maintaining applicable procedures
  • Core roles include communication, compliance, risk management, and use of current technology
  • The role specializes in planning storage, system definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and data protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of supplied engineering data. Establishes and maintains integrity controls
  • Provides the means, methods and solutions needed to support the efficient collection, storage, transfer, manipulation, analysis and reporting of engineering data as well as the need to deliver information for use by decision makers and stake holders. Retrieves and presents relevant Engineering Data during audits and inspections
  • Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the engineering data management system while staying ahead of current and new technologies. May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions within policy
  • Formulates and monitors policies, assists in developing and writing standard operating procedures (SOP's) and standards relating to engineering data storage management
  • Plans data storage, including system definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines
  • Assists project planning related to engineering data- maintain schedules in Microsoft Planner
  • Works with supervisor and/or project managers on engineering data-related projects. Implement process improvements using cLEAN® concepts
  • At the direction of the functional area manager (FAM), develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics
  • Organizes, and uses considerable written and verbal communication skills during the administration of the Engineering Data Management System (EDMS) Program
  • Independently researches a wide variety of information requests and gathers and compiles reports on data
  • Independently monitors, audits and maintains the Engineering Data Management System (EDMS) ensuring a reliable, secure, easily accessible depository of engineering data
  • Provides leadership and technical subject matter expert (SME) for drawing/drafting/modeling programs including software
  • Supports Deviations (DV) and Change requests (CR) related to engineering data
  • Provides training, ongoing support of best practices for maintaining engineering data
  • Provides training, mentoring, coaching of less experienced personnel in regards to engineering data
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable SOPs, corporate standards, cGMP's, local, state and federal laws/regulations

Qualifications

  • Education and Certifications:
    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Work Experience:
    • High School diploma or equivalent with nine (9) years of work-related experience within a manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance department as AutoCAD operator and/or administrative support required
    • Bachelor's Degree with five (5) years of work-related experience within a manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance department as AutoCAD operator and/or administrative support preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Develops professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Determines a course of action based on guidelines and modifies processes and methods as required
    • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Applies learned techniques and contributes to analysis and investigation to solve problems. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
    • Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
    • Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems by collaborating on procedures or transactions. Focuses on providing standard professional advice and creating initial reports/analyzes for review by experienced team professionals
    • Requires demonstrated computer skills and use of Microsoft Office including proficiency with Explorer, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Project, Visio, and Teams
    • Requires demonstrated skills with AutoCAD and/or engineering modeling software
    • Requires demonstrated computer skills with data management systems or data bases
    • Ability to utilize electronic systems as necessary in order to conduct job responsibilities

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required. The ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push, pull, lift, finger, feel, and grasp. The ability to speak, listen, and understand verbal and written communication. Ability to move throughout the facility in the performance of duties in proximity of process equipment and active construction sites during project phase. Visual acuity to perform close activities such as: reading, writing, and analyzing; and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. This position may lift up to 10 pounds. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment using hands. While performing this job employee work involves sitting most of the time with walking and standing required only occasionally. Ability to work hours necessary and according to customer needs in a continuous 24/7 operation.
