Engineer,Application Development

Position OverviewThe Engineer, Systems Software programming will be responsible for building, maintaining and supporting technical infrastructure for software applications based on the specifications and SLAs provided by the application development teams and the business users. That infrastructure can include the build of both test and production environments to support the software applications as well as the systems used to monitor the performance of the deployed software solutions. The Systems Engineer may also be called on to perform high-level root cause analysis for service interruptions, and assist in bringing the services back online once a problem is resolved. The systems engineer must be able to draw on techniques and processes from multiple disciplines in order to solve a complex problem or set of problems.

Job DescriptionDescription

• Determines problems and develops solutions relative to the operating system and third party software.
• Assists the application developers in testing, delivering, and supporting software solutions to support business initiatives.
• Participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation with the rest of the team responding within the required SLA, to any reported technical issues.
• Performs operating system software upgrades, installations and software configurations as well as third party software upgrades, installations, and software configurations.
• Creates and schedules the necessary jobs for file and system maintenance. Creates automation routines to proactively respond to system messages and alerts.
• User access provisioning for multiple systems and applications.
• System wide performance tuning to meet required levels of service.
• Manages storage devices and printers.

Years Of Experience

• 2-5 : Relevant experience with systems software programming. Experience providing z/OS systems support and operational experience related to scheduling, monitoring, and facilitating the troubleshooting of production issues within a mainframe environment.
