Senior Software Engineering Manager

The number one priority of the Senior Engineering Manager is to make sure their team(s) are unblocked and able to work efficiently on their assigned tasks. This requires the Senior Engineering Manager to keep tabs on all in-progress work for their team and recognize when to step in and provide guidance or direction, even if the team has not yet identified that it is needed.

Development at Campspot is heavy on collaboration. Managers are expected to collaborate with each other via technical design meetings and facilitate pair programming and code reviews when needed. Managers are also expected to partner with our product owners to scope, refine, and test features. Managers need to identify technical improvement work related to the project and feature development and facilitate balancing such improvements with ongoing feature development work. Lastly, they need to stay on top of emergent work for the team, and facilitate working that into the development schedule in an efficient and minimally disruptive way.

Campspot is built on a modern tech stack using the latest versions of Java and Kotlin on our backend with the Dropwizard framework, and TypeScript on our frontend using Angular. Our products are SAAS applications that run on AWS cloud infrastructure and we use modern tools like Terraform to manage that. We believe that skilled developers can be successful in any tech stack and set our expectations for ramp up time accordingly, but having experience in any of the technology above is a big plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with full stack web development
• 3+ years of management experience of a team including personnel management
• Collaboration, including helping Product and Design scope their requests, and writing tickets for technical issues
• Prioritization of work for the team and delegation of tasks
• Coaching and growing your team and those around you
• Excellent project management and organizational skills in order to communicate delivery status on project work and partner with product team to create reliable delivery plans
• Experience working in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Java, Kotlin, Kafka and TypeScript
• Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure
• Experience in an environment that does TDD or pair programming
• Mentoring othersExperience with third party platform integrations and SAAS products
• Travel, OTA or other similar industry experience
