Job Description:

Microchip’s Communications Business Unit (CBU) is looking junior engineers to fill multiple roles as Semiconductor Design & Verification Engineers – Entry/Junior Level in Montreal, Quebec Canada. CBU is a premier supplier for 100Gbps+ Optical Networking & Connectivity Semiconductor Solutions for Telecom & Hyperscale Data Center Networks. Our devices enable highbandwidth, cloud-based applications such as streaming services, social media platforms and video conferencing. The CBU Product Development team is engaged through the entire semiconductor R&D cycle of concept, design, verification, implementation stages. Once a prototype is available, the team supports embedded software development and system validation lab testing through to massmarket production release. We are an experienced chip team working with the latest semiconductor development tools and methodologies in advanced process technologies to develop state-of-the-art network devices. As a junior engineer you will innovate via digital design and the testing or circuits implementing features related to our semiconductor products. You will be guided by architects and lead engineer and will collaborate with other team members to deliver complex designs in a friendly and professional environment. Candidates of interest will have a background in hardware design, software development or hardware verification. Job responsibilities may include:

• Understand the requirements & functional description of the device to ensure compliance with specifications and error free functionality.

• Develop a digital circuit with System Verilog to process a new protocol or to increase processing speed of an existing design.

• Develop a component of a virtual testbench that will generate or monitor complex stimuli driven to the digital circuit, using C++, System Verilog and UVM.

• Develop and execute a verification plan, using System Verilog and functional coverage. • Develop low level functions for the embedded processor on a chip.

• Collaborate with Software, Validation to deliver devices that integrate into a wider system.

• Participate in Product Validation during the prototype stage of development.

Nous cherchons des ingénieurs juniors pour remplir plusieurs rôles, en tant qu’Ingénieur en conception et vérification de produits semiconducteurs – nouveau diplômé ou niveau junior, pour joindre la division communication de Microchip (CBU) à notre bureau à Montréal, Québec Canada. CBU est un principal fournisseur de solutions électroniques des réseaux optiques de 100Gbs et plus pour nos clients en télécommunication et en réseautique des centres de données. Nos produits permettent l’utilisation d’applications sur l’info-nuage utilisant un grand débit de données comme les plateformes de médias sociaux, de visioconférence et de streaming vidéo. L’équipe de développement est impliquée à travers le cycle complet de recherche et développement des semiconducteurs, soit les phases d’architecture, de conception, de vérification et d’implémentation. Quand le prototype est disponible, l’équipe supporte le développement de logiciel embarqué et les tests de validation système dans nos laboratoires jusqu’à la mise en marché du produit. Nous sommes une équipe expérimentée et nous développons des puces électroniques en utilisant les plus récents outils et procédés de fabrication des semiconducteurs. En tant que membre junior, vous allez innover à travers des designs et des tests de circuits numériques qui répondent aux fonctionnalités de nos produits semiconducteurs. Vous serez guidé par des architectes et des ingénieurs seniors; vous collaborerez avec d’autres membres de l’équipe, dans un environnement amical et professionnel, pour accomplir des designs de plus en plus complexes. Le rôle du candidat peut être de :

• Comprendre les requis et les descriptions fonctionnelles d’un circuit intégré spécialisé afin d’assurer sa conformité aux spécifications et d’un fonctionnement sans faute.

• Développer un circuit numérique, à l’aide de System Verilog, pour implémenter un nouveau protocole ou améliorer la cadence d’un design pour traiter les données à un débit plus élevé.

• Développer une partie d’un banc de test qui génère et examine des séquences complexes de stimuli vers les circuits numériques en utilisant C++, System Verilog et UVM.

• Développer et exécuter des tests suivant un plan de vérification à l’aide de System Verilog et de techniques de couverture fonctionnelle.

• Développer des fonctions pour un logiciel embarqué (C++) d’une puce dotée d’un processeur.

• Collaborer avec l’équipe logiciel et de validation pour fournir une solution système. Participer à la validation du produit lors de la phase du prototypage.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Academic experience in digital design, VLSI, computer architecture, embedded programming or object-oriented modeling are desired.
  • Experience with Hardware Descriptive Languages (HDL) such as System Verilog, Verilog or VHDL is required. Candidates are expected to know how HDL languages simulate and map to digital logic.
  • Interest in abstract modeling of design functionality via software object-oriented programming.
  • Knowledge of verification methodologies such as UVM is an asset.
  • FPGA development exposure with Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor or Xilinx tool suites is an asset.
  • Understand digital hardware architectures and logic (State-machines, RAMs, Registers and bus architectures).
  • Experience with control revision tool such as Subversion or Git is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a Linux shell environment and Linux scripting (CSH/TCL/Perl/Python) is required.
  • Must be self-driven & proactive with a desire to understand, learn more, do more & make a difference.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills with the ability to proactively solve issues is required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Baccalauréat ou diplôme de cycle supérieur en génie électrique ou informatique.

  • Excellentes capacités d’analyse, de débogage et de résolution de problèmes de manière proactive.
  • Habileté en communication verbale et écrite en anglais
