What You Will Contribute:
 

The Engineer I, Systems Integration is an entry-level or early-experience technical position expected to mostly perform specific tasks defined by more senior engineers. The role will primarily focus upon creating models, completing development tasks, aggregating data or monitoring systems, documenting dashboards and models, and participate actively in investigations. Typical workflow will include observing dashboards and alerts, following up on detected anomalies, documenting the extent of the concern, investigating, and following up with other engineers or teams.

The engineer will compose tickets, select populations of installed product for pilots, document and obtain approvals, maintain records of their work. They will be expected to create reports, presentations, summaries, and distribute or present findings to others at all levels within the company. The engineer is expected to have a continuous-improvement mindset and look for opportunities to streamline and automate investigations and monitoring processes.

This position applies fundamental knowledge to basic investigations, and to identify unexpected outcomes. A data analyst may report anomalies to more senior engineers and/or participate in the follow-up efforts in reaction to the anomaly. This individual must have the willingness and ability to learn, work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate effective problem-solving initiative and motivation. They may represent the data team on projects or investigations, or may work under the mentorship of a more senior engineer on a larger team. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Create and monitor dashboards, product support issues, product troubleshooting with minimal oversight.
  • Assist in defining visualizations, monitors, and models.
  • Perform testing and verification of systems, cleaning of data, and maintenance of infrastructure.
  • Report anomalies to more senior engineers and/or participate in the follow-up efforts in reaction to the anomaly.
  • Write procedures and at times validate, audit, or review procedures.
  • Work within the JIRA system to initiate and implement tickets.
  • Define and create components or portions of a larger project.
  • May participate on project teams
  • Work under the mentorship of a more senior engineer on a larger team.
  • Learn and navigate Badger Meter systems and procedures

  • Gain familiarization with Badger Meter product portfolio

  • Learn basics of project management and processes

  • Become familiar with the Badger Meter safety policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience required

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in

    Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field

  • Foundation of engineering fundamentals

  • Foundation of programming languages, statistics, and mathematical models

  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to troubleshooting and investigations

  • Interest and ability to learn and use Python programming, statistical analysis, and data visualization

  • Demonstrated strong initiative and motivation

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
