Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Engineer to join our growing team in Chicago, IL. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer with a strong interest in the field Energy Efficiency to join our dynamic team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily with customers and program subcontractors/service providers to help support their participation in the client energy efficiency incentive program offerings
  • Conduct inspections to verify installation and operation of baseline and replacement energy efficient equipment
  • Support and train subcontractors/service providers on performing comprehensive energy assessments and provide technical and non-technical support to successfully participate in energy efficiency incentive program offerings 
  • Produce high quality engineering deliverables (spreadsheets, calculators, reports) with some support from peers / senior engineers
  • Support development of new energy efficiency measures for existing / new energy efficiency programs while demonstrating technical understanding and clarity
  • Establish and maintain a professional customer rapport, including identifying and anticipating customer needs and proposing solutions 
  • Promptly and accurately address service provider/customer concerns to assure problem resolution and promote long-term productive relationships 
  • Understand the organization and decision-making process to work with stakeholders in determining project eligibility, schedule, and potential energy savings 
  • Perform and review energy savings calculations for evaluating energy savings and environmental impact 
  • Provide technical and customer support to energy efficiency incentive program participants 
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, provide timely updates, and ensure our customers and subcontractors/service providers are up to date with program information 
  • Communicate efficiently with subcontractors/service providers, customers, and clients to meet program requirements 
  • Maintain quality control of all deliverable products, demonstrating objectivity and clarity while maintaining project schedules 
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Chicago, IL area.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s is required; preferably in mechanical, chemical, electrical engineering or related field of study
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical or electrical systems and principles including lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, heat transfer and thermodynamics 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and projects and work with technical staff 
  • Must have IL driver’s license and be able to travel locally up to approximately 20%-30% of the time 
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

  • Previous project coordination experience or similar within the energy efficiency industry is preferred
  • Previous experience with the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program is preferred
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) are a plus
