Job Description

The ELS project lead is a Lean/Six Sigma expert, hands on role that will:

  • Support the operations leader for establishment of lean principles and practices for shop floor operations to establish an operating system for daily, weekly, and monthly practices that enables ability to see and solve problems for continuous improvement of capabilities and performance results.

  • Collaborate directly with operating teams areas to support standard operations, identify opportunities and facilitate improvements

  • Collaborate and benchmark with other sites, functional teams, other internal and external stakeholders to support standards and improvements

  • Standardize operating, quality control, ongoing preventive maintenance processes

Key responsibility focus areas will include, but not limited to:

  • Establishing and following priority SOP’s

  • Establishing and supporting standard metrics and reporting

  • Support standard management system practices:

  • Daily - Managing for Daily Improvement process (MDI) that includes:

    • Leader standardized work (“gemba”)

    • Daily accountability

    • Visual controls

    • Abnormality management/support escalation

  • Weekly management practices - ongoing performance management, problem solving and improvement projects

  • Monthly management processes - strategy alignment, communications

  • Value stream mapping to plan and prioritize improvements

  • Developing and executing productivity improvement roadmaps, projects, and action plans

Critical skill and capability areas, expectations for the role:

  • Be a change agent – challenge the status quo and implement breakthrough improvements, influencing and motivating others to adopt and take ownership of new processes

  • Must have relevant manufacturing work experience

  • Understanding of lean sigma principles and practices with practical applications experience

  • Effective collaboration with team members at all levels

  • Training and coaching others

  • Excellent verbal and written communications with others, across all levels of the organization

  • Project management and problem solving skills

  • Experience in completing complex technical assignments without immediate supervision; analyzing complex data and preparing effective reports and recommendations.

  • Ability to work and manage multiple projects with limited direct supervision

  • Basic business acumen

  • Model and promote our Avery Dennison code of conduct, values and ethics

  • Ability to travel when required to work at manufacturing locations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commensurate training and work experience

  • Minimum 3 years related work experience - manufacturing operations, engineering, problem solving and process improvements
