The EHS Manager supports site personnel to manage a comprehensive Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) program for two PPG Traffic Solutions facilities in Ennis, TX and one facility in Hannibal, MO. The facilities produce various grades of paint for road applications.

Close interaction with all levels of the manufacturing, technical and engineering organizations is critical to ensure a consistent and unified EHS message. The EHS Manager reports to the EHS Director and collaborates with other functions to develop standardized EHS programs for implementation at all USA and Canada Traffic Solutions facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG requirements and policies.

  • Manage and drive all environmental, health and safety compliance and management system functions and activities.

  • Manage aspects of the EHS training program, including developing effective training materials, delivering instructor led training, training record management and new employee safety training.

  • Drive key safety initiatives including Job Safety Analysis, safety observations, site safety risk assessments, risk mitigation, and Management of Change.

  • Support site management and provide coaching and review of incident investigations and corrective actions through 5-Why and other incident investigation methods.

  • Facilitate internal audits and self-assessments. Assist operations in developing and implementing corrective actions.

  • Assist with administration of workers’ compensation program to determine areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits.

  • Oversight of the Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal).

  • Manage site Process Safety Management (PSM) program.

  • Actively interact with employees and leadership to promote the PPG EHS culture.

  • Provide assistance within the Traffic Solutions business as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.

  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing setting, chemical preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization and act as an effective advisor across a variety of EHS concerns and issues.

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to drive change.

  • Regular travel is required; Coverage of two Ennis, TX locations requires commuting between sites which are 3 miles apart. Support of the Hannibal, MO site requires travel one week per every 4-8 weeks. The number of employees at the locations is approximately 125 total.
