This position leads EHS support in the implementation and enablement of assigned EHS tactical elements, providing guidance to the business on the necessary actions required to deliver outcomes in hazard and risk management within the production and chemical industry. This role also ensures EHS system executes elements allocated within the New Plymouth EHS improvement plan, corporate EHS guidelines and drives continuous improvements through targeted programs and monitoring EHS performance. Comply with all relevant Occupational, Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation, codes of practice, standards, policies, operating procedures and work instructions as outlined by Arxada NZ LTD

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day to day operational supervision of EHS elements on New Plymouth Site, Laboratory, Field Research Team and Crop Protection Sales Team.

  • Lead the hazard and risk management assessments process utilizing a range of risk methodologies.

  • Provide support and enable the business to consistently implement, adhere and comply with EHS management systems to ensure legislative requirements are fulfilled.

  • Assist with the effective integration relationship and support between EHS and the business needs and objectives.

  • Lead the safety culture change with interpretation analysis and motivation of individuals.

  • Ensure prevention of work related injury or illness through the provision of an effective behavioral based safety process and hazard identification system · Champion the local EHS Management Software (Stems) for accurate data recording and reporting of , non-conformances, incidents and events associated with EHS e.g. excluding quality events.

  • Maintain an event control of all EHS incidents/observations including ensuring investigations are completed and closed out as per Incident management directive via ICAM or root cause analysis methodology (for significant or potentially significant events)

  • Ensure that Arxada New Plymouth has Emergency Response capability through updating and testing of Emergency Response Plans and support operation group maintain currency/testing of site level ERP.

  • Act as the local EHS subject management expert for application of Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and EPA Legislation, while also supporting the Regulatory Manager with regulatory compliance ACVM requirements that are associated with EHS.

  • Ensure all corporate and regional EHS reporting and risk management targets and objectives are met in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership in EHS working and influencing at a senior level;

  • Demonstrated strong ability to manage workload/priorities, setting realistic timeframes and flexibility to cope with changing priorities

  • Ability to lead complex risk/process hazard assessments

  • A knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations etc;

  • Demonstrated skills in development, implementation and ongoing management of EHS systems;

  • Experience in serious incident investigation and EHS audits;

  • Knowledge of work “Permit” systems
