About the team

You’ll join a team with exceptionally high editorial standards. Our team members have worked at some of the top media and personal finance outlets in the U.S. As an editor specializing in credit card content, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping our readers understand and navigate financial decisions. You’ll be responsible for producing new content at the highest standards, coordinating and executing updates of existing content to ensure ongoing accuracy, helpfulness and performance, and collaborating with the editorial team on other content creation to drive key business initiatives. You should have deep expertise in credit card products and the industry that will inform both in-depth and short-form educational content that will empower Credit Karma members. You’ll work closely with an Editorial team that includes credit card strategists, compliance specialists and SEO experts, as well as various stakeholders across the organization.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate closely with teams across Marketing and Product and across distributed offices and time zones
  • Produce and maintain credit cards content across various marketing and product surfaces and channels (in app, email, push, SEO, SEM, etc.)
  • Work closely with the SEO team to optimize content performance to meet business goals
  • Develop methodologies to assess the value of card features, points and benefits 
  • Manage and own work on small- to mid-size projects and own tasks within larger projects owned by your teammates, all while understanding the impact of your work on larger business goals
  • Work to identify and improve processes and workflow issues
  • Update existing content to deadline for accuracy, helpfulness and compliance
  • Apply AP style and Credit Karma Editorial style and standards to all produced and edited content
  • Work within Credit Karma’s content management system and other platforms to publish and update content
  • Pull and analyze success metrics to identify and understand trends, assess content performance and identify opportunities
  • Identify and pitch content opportunities resulting from closely monitoring industry, consumer and product trends

What we are looking for:

  • 4+ years writing/editing experience in the cards space
  • A deep affinity for and working knowledge of how airline, hotel and credit card loyalty programs operate with real-world applications
  • Ability to communicate complicated credit card features, including rewards structures and benefits into clear and practical applications for both beginning and savvy card users alike
  • Passion for content creation and service journalism from a consumer-first perspective
  • Familiarity with SEO and CRO best practices, AP style and marketing principles. Ability to adapt similar content to different channels, formats and audience segments

What we would like to see:

  • Experience in business journalism or content marketing in the credit card space, with an emphasis on multiple credit card areas: credit card categories, travel, points and miles, perks and benefits, risks and pitfalls, and credit card account management
  • Working knowledge of credit card compliance and creating content in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience in data-inquiry and marketing tools (GSC, GA4, Conductor, SEMRush, Botify, Looker)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing & PR, etc.)
