The Dispatcher is responsible for day to day Transportation operations, which include maintaining driver relations and all customer service functions needed to ensure customer satisfaction. The operational functions include revenue generation (headhaul / backhaul), safety, equipment maintenance monitoring, and driver payroll.

Essential Duties:

  • Communicate all aspects of load assignments to drivers, via electronic or verbal media
  • Manage driver schedules, driver locations and driver communication on a daily basis
  • Monitor driver locations, progress, routing, and time at stops
  • Maintain driver hours / miles and approve for payroll
  • Manage and monitor driver paperwork and BOLs to ensure correct and time completion
  • Reduce driver turnover to acceptable corporate levels
  • Issue and ensure accuracy of disciplinary action when necessary
  • Assist drivers with customer and/ or operational issues or direct them to proper management to resolve the issues
  • Maintain accurate and timely entries of data in TMS. 
  • Manage equipment PMs within acceptable % and coordinate service schedule through Maintenance Coordinator
  • Ensure driver compliance FMCSA regulations as well as Safety and Company policies
  • Understand customer needs and service expectations
  • Manage and adjust freight schedules adequately according to capacity
  • Communicate to Customer Service Representatives and Transportation Supervisors any customer and/or operational issues
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluent command of the English language
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in truckload industry preferred; minimum 2 years
  • Motivated, problem solving and analytical thinking required
  • High School Graduate or GED; some college preferred
  • Must be able to handle driver demands in positive and professional manner at all times
  • Computer literacy is required
