Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH is seeking an Earth Station Operations (ESO) Senior Technician who can assist in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of the radio-frequency (RF) equipment used in large-scale satellite downlink and uplink operations. The qualified individual must be able to function robustly on rotational shift schedules within a team environment. The right candidate will also be required to work outdoors in all elements, be able to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, operate a motor vehicle and work at heights up to 50 feet. Rotating shift work, working during holidays and weekends will also be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure continuous customer support to all EchoStar, Dish Network and all other internal and external customers using SOP related procedures. Works under the immediate supervision of the shift Supervisor
- Perform antenna maintenance, which includes; repairing, cleaning, lubrication, and servicing of antenna tracking and deice systems. Requires ability to climb ladders and work at heights in an aerial lift
- Use common RF test equipment such as multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, synthesized sweepers, and network analyzers to troubleshoot and repair transmission equipment
- Use monitor and control systems to trend data and perform periodic inspections to check the health of all Earth Station equipment. Including manual snow/ice removal from antennas
- Perform periodic cleaning, maintenance, and repair of ESO equipment. Including antennas, transmitters, frequency converters, switch units, antenna control equipment, and fiber optic equipment
- Use common hand and power tools such as soldering irons, torque wrenches, hammers, screw drivers, pliers and wrenches, sockets, drills, saws, and crimping tools to complete projects and repairs to earth station equipment
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) degree in RF Technologies/Satellite Communications or; a basic electronics course completion from a military technical school or accredited technical school/university is a plus
- 2-7 years of RF related work experience suggested experience also preferred. High School Diploma preferred
Skills and Qualifications:
- A valid DOT motor vehicle license is required to operate our aerial lift. The aerial lift is operated on company property and parking lots in the vicinity of other motor vehicles to access antenna components outside of the personnel safety boundaries installed on the antennas.
Other physical job requirements that are necessary that require ADA acknowledgement:
- Climbing - Must be able to climb a vertical ladder unassisted in excess of 30 feet in order to access equipment installed on antenna platforms
- Lifting - Ability to move or lift 75lbs. Required to move klystron tubes into and out of their transmission cabinets; this also meets the requirement to be able to rake snow out of antenna reflectors
- Heights - Must be able to work at heights up to 50 feet. Required to work on antenna heaters and components in the aerial lift
- Weather - Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and in areas that are slippery or have uneven surfaces; required to clear antennas of snow and ice or conduct antenna repairs during the heat of the day
- Shiftwork - Must be able to work any shift in a 24x7x365 environment in order to meet the needs of Dish customers
- Must be able to stand, climb, walk, climb and reach while performing the duties of the job
- The ability to respond to audible and visual alarms
- The ability to monitor services that include adult content without objections
Preferred skills and abilities include:
- Ability to prepare and analyze technical drawings using Visio or CAD. Able to use the Google Suite of applications and databases to ensure O&M methods are documented and conform to established standards and departmental requirements
- Familiarity in IP Networking and Security protocols
- Data gathering and analysis tool experience such as Grafana or Splunk
- Ability to calculate and analyze satellite communications data to include; link budgets for satellite communications, antenna gain measurements, transmission power calculations, EIRP measurements and path loss determination
- Experience in configuring and maintaining servers; ability to setup and maintain server hardware, software, including operating systems and applications
- Computer programming ability (Python, Java Script or PHP) along with automation or orchestration techniques
- GIS software experience to include map overlays and dataset queries within
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $20.70/Hour - $29.60/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
