We are looking for an experienced Drainlayer to join our Utilities Division based in Gisborne. In this role you will be responsible for completing installations or repairs of sanitary or storm water sewer structures, lay out pipe routes and locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Identifying SHE risks, near misses, potential problems and spills and reporting them immediately

  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue

  • Excavate and dig trenches along marked areas as per plans

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Minimum Class 1 full licence, with WTR endorsement

  • Drainlaying experience, ideally Qualified/Trade/Certified Drainlayer

  • Understands principals and technology of drainlaying

  • Understands principals and technology of new water connection work

  • Experience operating excavators and other machinery

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Good understanding of site safety and hazard management

  • Self-motivated, with can-do attitude and a team player
