We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director to lead our global Systems and Process Engineering (S&PE) team, supporting the Technical Solutions (TS) organization. Datadog's TS org is composed of 900+ customer-facing technical experts around the world from Sales Engineers, Technical Account Managers, Support Engineers, and Solution Architects who work with prospects and customers across their journey with Datadog to deliver outstanding customer experiences and drive growth through rapid product adoption. The Systems & Process Engineering function will sit within Technical Solutions Operations (TSO) and report into the VP of TSO.
As the leader of our evolving Systems and Process Engineering team consisting of frontline managers and ICs, you will be spearheading our efforts to drive Technical Solutions efficiency and effectiveness by automating, optimizing, and operationalizing TS processes & workflows into a scalable ecosystem of tools. Your focus will be on business process automation, tech optimization, rationalization, and ROI (return on investment).

What You'll Do:

  • Roadmap: Own & develop TS' overall tech stack architecture and roadmap, including how & where we can leverage AI to drive greater productivity and efficiency.
  • Prioritization: Balance quick wins with large critical priorities, across the needs of different stakeholders and internal customers.
  • Collaboration: With Business Leaders, IT, and peers that manage systems that integrate with our tech stack, to define, prioritize, and implement the roadmap.
  • New Technologies: Drive new technology purchases and renewals of existing technologies to improve business processes and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Cost Management: Optimize overall TS technology spend against value received for both technologies we build and buy.
  • Metrics: Implement KPIs and metrics to monitor system performance, efficiency, scalability, impact of process improvements, and vendor effectiveness.
  • Thought Partnership: To TS Leaders across Sales Engineering, Support Engineering, and Professional Services on how process, systems, and tooling can be best leveraged to achieve better outcomes for their teams.
  • Process Engineering & Improvement: Oversee the analysis, design, and optimization of key business processes across departments, using continuous improvement methodologies (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
  • System Upgrades: Oversee implementation of new systems, features, enhancements, and retiring of tech "debt", ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Hire & Develop Talent: Lead the global team to evolve with business objectives and strengthen their business outcome focus while preserving the team's strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and humility.

Your Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of experience in business systems management, IT, or operations, including experience with managing Enterprise Platforms & Business Technology (i.e. Zendesk, Salesforce, Assembled, Workday, Netsuite, Jira, Confluence, Slack)
  • Management Experience: 5+ years of experience growing, developing, and leading System Engineers, Process Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and/or comparable teams in a high-growth company
  • Execution: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering successful business transformation initiatives
  • Travel: Able to travel via auto, train, or air up to 20% of the time

  • Expertise in B2B Tech solutions in at least one following areas: Support, GTM, Sales Engineering, Professional Services motions; leading business case scoping to implementations, adoption, and utilization maturity curves
  • Experience scaling a team through rapid growth to adapt to evolving business priorities

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
