The Director, Strategy will play a pivotal role in CNN's transformation, spearheading the launch of innovative digital products that will cement CNN's position as the world's most essential and engaging source of digital news. Reporting to the VP of Strategy, Product & Content, this visionary leader will be instrumental in driving CNN's growth and shaping the future of digital news consumption.
Your Role Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership and Innovation

  • Lead the development and execution of CNN's digital product strategy, aligning with the network's mission to be the world's most essential and engaging source of digital news.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, including the SVP of New Business, to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the digital news landscape.
  • Drive innovation by conceptualizing and launching groundbreaking digital products that expand CNN's value proposition to new and existing users.


Product Development and Market Analysis

  • Spearhead the design, structure, and execution of strategic initiatives supporting product launches, including developing comprehensive work plans and establishing new operating cadences.
  • Conduct in-depth competitive research and product-market fit analysis to ensure CNN's digital offerings remain at the forefront of the industry.
  • Develop robust business models for new products, ensuring alignment with CNN's strategic goals and financial objectives.


Cross-functional Collaboration and Leadership

  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across CNN's diverse teams, including editorial, technology, and business units.
  • Partner with internal teams to create high-impact strategies for user acquisition, engagement, and retention across CNN's digital platforms.
  • Serve as a key liaison between product development teams and executive stakeholders, effectively communicating vision, progress, and results.


Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Leverage advanced analytics and user data to inform product development, optimize user experiences, and drive engagement across CNN's digital platforms.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of new digital products and initiatives.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Business, Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in product management, digital strategy, or related fields within media, technology, or consumer-facing digital products.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling digital products in fast-paced, transformative environments.
  • Deep understanding of digital news consumption trends, emerging technologies, and the evolving media landscape.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience in developing and executing digital subscription models and revenue growth strategies.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and product development lifecycles.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a talent for inspiring and motivating cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $125,090.00 - $232,310.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
