Job Description:
This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Commercial Products & Platforms (CPP) Team where our vision is to develop technology that delights our customers and enables our crews to operate our restaurants reliably and effectively. This Director-level role will be part of Global Technology.
Following a Chapter model of software engineering, your responsibilities will encompass the recruiting, selecting, upskilling, and managing a team of Software Engineers. Leading one of our chapter organizations, you will oversee 3-5 Senior Engineering Managers, each managing 15-20 Software Engineers. In total, you will be at the helm of a team comprising 50-100+ software engineering professionals.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Be an inspirational leader who guides other leaders in the identification, recruiting, hiring and fostering of growth of a high-caliber team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs).
  • Provide a roadmap for the team to implement software engineering practices that enhance code quality.
  • Guide your team in advancing their software development skills and preparing them for bigger challenges.
  • Drive professional development by focusing on technology, skill sets, and tools to nurture the growth of software development engineers, resulting in increased productivity and high-quality outcomes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities in emerging AI technologies to enhance Developer Experience (DevEx).
  • Drive consistent individual performance evaluations by defining standards, conducting regular assessments, and gathering feedback from Tech Leads and other stakeholders.
  • Support Product Managers and Tech Leads by recruiting the right technical talent and aligning skills the demand for those skills.
  • Lead your team of Senior Engineering Managers in fostering community building and knowledge sharing across the engineering chapters.
  • Lead efforts to continually improve delivery speed, quality, value, and applied innovation

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of recent experience in leading teams and/or programs application development in (Kotlin/Swift/React/Java/C#/C++ or similar)
  • 6+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience in guiding and overseeing leaders of teams.
  • Impact-minded approach, with ability to articulate goals and instill action and alignment towards reaching them.
  • Strong in analytics, structured, data-driven problem-solving.
  • Background in collaborating with Technology Delivery teams and stakeholders in a large, complex, global matrixed organization.
  • Experience in partnering with tier 1 and 2 technology providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with comfort speaking to business stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic acumen and the ability to lead leaders to consensus.
  • Strong leader and collaborator.
  • Knowledgeable in professional software engineering practices and industry-leading methodologies for the complete software development lifecycle.
