As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the within the Consumer & Community Banking, you will lead a technical domain and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. Your role will involve identifying and escalating issues, ensuring your team's work complies with compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices. As a highly skilled and motivated Technology Manager, you will guide our team of technologists in managing operational systems, optimizing design, exploring and implementing new design patterns, and providing solutions to complex business problems.
Job responsibilities

  • Leads on strategy and development of multiple products, applications, and technologies.
  • Translates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to drive the firm's innovation and enable leaders to make strategic, well-informed decisions about target state architecture.
  • Develop and implement architecture principles, strategies and guidelines.
  • Design scalable, secure and efficient software architectures. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and development teams.
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools to drive innovation and improve existing systems.
  • Lead the way to transition from monolithic to advanced platform, based on Java (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud), Microservices & multi-tier architectures, API - REST, API Gateway, DevOps/CI/CD (GIT/Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Sonar)
  • Engage with stakeholders, including clients, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Implement and advocate for agile methodologies and practices. Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains. Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Java concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing senior technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Experience working at code level
  • Deep expertise in multiple technology domains and technologies such as: Java (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud), Microservices & multi-tier architectures, API - REST, API Gateway, DevOps/CI/CD (GIT/Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Sonar)
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, coaching and recognizing talent
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience establishing vibrant engineering communities and guilds
  • Expertise in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture disciplines


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working with AI/ML technologies and architecture is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely
