The Director of Small Business and SBA Operations is responsible for timely and perfected closings of both Small Business and SBA loans to maintain our position as the Small Business Bank of Choice. The Team is composed of 12 specialized loan closers & documentation specialist with 6 being direct reports. The incumbent will report to the Chief Business Banking Officer and will partner on new product strategies and provide best in class client experience through Delivery Transformation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the Loan Closing Team, responsible for commercial and commercial real estate lending groups.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Business Development Officers, Underwriting, Deposit Operations, and Special Assets to ensure a seamless, consistent customer experience, a well-managed servicing portfolio, and to foster an internal culture of cross-selling bank products.
- Collaborate with Loan Administration, Risk Management, Underwriting, General Counsel, outside Counsel, and Capital Markets to ensure conformity with lending guidelines, investor guidelines, and loan documentation.
- Refine policies, procedures, controls, and processes to optimize workflow, while effectively managing risks and ensuring adherence to established regulatory/credit policies and servicing guidelines and contracts and as applicable, investor and rating agency standards.
- Ensure high quality outcomes from internal loan review, compliance reviews, internal and external audits, servicer reviews, and regulatory compliance examinations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Commercial Lending, SBA standard operating procedures, credit guidelines, practices and trends in the industry, ensuring compliance will all applicable laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting or other business related field.
- Minimum of 7 – 10 years of Commercial Lending experience.
- Specialist lending experience in SBA lending is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of SBA standard operating procedures is required.
- Must possess the ability to thoroughly interpret financial data and use sound business judgement.
- Must have previous experience managing a team in the commercial lending space.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must have experience with nCino and Salesforce or like systems to originate loans.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and can use other banking software.
