The Role
The Director of Sales will lead new business development and sales processes, manage and develop a high-performance sales team, and utilize KPIs for performance optimization in a company focused on gunshot detection technologies.
Summary Generated by Built In

Shooter Detection Systems, founded in 2013, is a recognized leader in the gunshot detection industry. By adapting military-grade technology for civilian use, we have positioned ourselves as innovators dedicated to mitigating the threat of active shooters in various settings both domestically and internationally. Our mission is to enhance safety and security across communities, and we are seeking a dynamic Director of Sales to join our team. This role will involve new business development, product and API sales, team leadership and development, sales process optimization, and margin optimization to drive our mission forward.

Role and Responsibilities

New Business Development:

  • Spearhead the identification and cultivation of sales opportunities and strategic partnerships across a diverse range of sizes and industries.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in closing both high-volume, short-cycle sales and complex, multi-touch enterprise-level sales opportunities, ensuring robust pipeline growth.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide strategic leadership to a lean yet expanding sales team, overseeing both inside and outside sales representatives.
  • Foster a high-performance culture by motivating, coaching, and developing team members to maximize their potential and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business for effective collaboration and partnerships.

Performance Measurement and Optimization:

  • Utilize detailed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and regular sales reports to assess and optimize performance across the sales team, monitor backlog, and manage pipeline metrics.
  • Implement data-driven strategies to enhance productivity and achieve sales targets.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives and mission of Shooter Detection Systems.

Requirements

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Hands-on Leadership: Demonstrated willingness to proactively engage in all aspects of the sales process, providing hands-on guidance and support to ensure team success.
  • Sales Hunter Mentality: A highly competitive spirit with a proactive approach to identifying and seizing new sales opportunities, coupled with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Client Focused: Unwavering attention to client needs, with meticulous attention to detail and exceptional presentation skills that build trust and foster long-term relationships.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of full cycle sales & sales management experience, ideally having sold SaaS / technology solutions with complex sales cycles.
  • Familiarity with security technologies, gunshot detection systems, or related fields is a plus.
  • Track record of reliably producing results, exceeding performance goals, and driving sales growth in a B2B, or B2B2C business (specifically SaaS sales with both consumer and employee end users).
  • Preferred but not required: experience in the IoT, security, and life safety (or related) industries.
  • Ability to sell directly and through strategic partnerships and channel partners (and to proactively identify new prospects).
  • Creative and flexible thinker who is effective at designing solutions versus selling widgets.
  • High EQ and interpersonal skills for a high touch, agile environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree preferred
