Summary Description
The Revenue Cycle Operations Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of revenue cycle operations for our healthcare provider customers. This leader will leverage their extensive experience and strong analytical skills to drive operational efficiency, maximize collections, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. The Director will manage a team of revenue cycle associates, focusing on process optimization and performance improvement, while also maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a remote team of revenue cycle associates across various functions (billing, coding, collections, denials, etc.).
    • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular coaching and development to ensure the team meets or exceeds goals.
    • Ensure seamless coordination across remote teams to drive efficiency and resolve operational challenges.
  • Operational Oversight & Optimization:
    • Oversee all aspects of the revenue cycle, including billing, coding, payment posting, and AR and Denial Management.
    • Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to enhance performance
    • Manage Revenue Cycle teams both onshore and offshore 
    • Develop and maintain best practices for revenue cycle operations to ensure timely and accurate billing and collection processes.
    • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies to ensure continued operational excellence.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for customer escalations, issues, and expectations, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
    • Foster strong, trust-based relationships with key clients and stakeholders, consistently managing their expectations and delivering value.
    • Communicate revenue cycle performance and initiatives clearly and effectively to both internal and external audiences.
  • Technology & Systems Proficiency:
    • Leverage experience with major EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and billing systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) to guide system optimization efforts.
    • Collaborate with IT and system administrators to address system-related issues and ensure the efficient operation of billing and reporting systems.
  • Analytics & Performance Improvement:
    • Utilize strong analytical skills to review and interpret operational metrics, KPIs, and financial data to drive continuous process improvements.
    • Direct teams to implement actionable insights that optimize revenue cycle workflows, reduce denials, and improve cash flow.
    • Ensure the revenue cycle team remains compliant with all relevant healthcare regulations and payer guidelines.

Skills and Education

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in revenue cycle operations within a healthcare provider or outsourced vendor organization.
  • Proven experience managing revenue cycle teams and driving operational performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer success management.
  • Proven experience managing offshore revenue cycle teams.
  • Ability to manage a revenue cycle team in a remote setting.
  • Strong familiarity with EMR systems and billing platforms, including Epic, Cerner, and/or Meditech.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to guide decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships, handle escalations, and align stakeholder expectations.
  • A strong understanding of healthcare regulations, billing practices, and reimbursement processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
