About The Role

The Director of Quality will work with internal teams for quality management from NPI (new product introduction) to high-volume mass production and serve as the directional lead for the global manufacturing sites. The Director of Quality will act as the manager and focal point in measuring and driving continuous improvement in supplier quality (SQE), internal manufacturing process quality (MQE) and finished goods product quality (CQE/PQE).

What Teams You Will Lead

  • MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEERING (MQE)
    • Manage weekly Manufacturing Quality review meetings surmising site-wide quality metrics and KPIs.
    • Manage and drive workmanship-induced quality failure reduction measures.
    • Exchange knowledge and information with other ZT sites as lessons learned to ensure best practices are shared and standardized throughout the company.
    • Serve as day-to-day guidance and escalation point for the Manufacturing Quality Engineering, Incoming Quality Control IQC, In Process Quality Control IPQC, and Final Quality Control FQC teams, advising and contributing to manufacturing process improvements assuring utmost product quality. 
    • Drive quality improvements including overseeing factory, supplier, and customer quality excursions.
    • Develop and implement global manufacturing quality standards in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Design and execute comprehensive training programs for manufacturing teams, focusing on quality management systems, process improvements, and compliance.
    • Conduct regular audits of manufacturing facilities to assess adherence to quality standards, identify areas for improvement, and ensure consistency in product quality.
    • Implement cross-functional NPI initiatives.
    • Facilitate interdepartmental quality discussions for issues affecting warehouse and production teams.
  • SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEERING (SQE)
    • Mitigation of quality issues that impact the customer and internal operations.
    • Proactively measure and provide feedback to suppliers on quality-related KPIs ensuring continuous improvement throughout product life.
    • Direct onsite supplier quality-related activities (e.g. reworks, quarantines, etc.)
  • PRODUCT / CUSTOMER QUALITY ENGINEERING (PQE/CQE)
    • Serve as the focal point to both Engineering (product) and customer on quality-related issues.
    • Work with customers to clearly define factory-build report expectations including frequency of reports, expected data, and response to first-past yield excursions.
    • Become an advocate for the customer through excellent knowledge of the ZT manufacturing process, timely follow-through, and customer focus.
  • AUDIT / COMPLIANCE
    • Prepare manufacturing teams for internal and external audits while providing support for root cause investigation and corrective action responses
    • Lead site-wide internal audit program including planning, implementation, report generation corrective action issuance to closure
    • Manage the control of manufacturing Quality Management System QMS documentation.
    • Ensure efficient and effective processes and tools are established for compliance with ISO/TL9000 standard requirements.
  • SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
    • Strive to build a continuous improvement mentality to develop and ensure a data-driven proactive quality culture.
    • Must demonstrate excellent analytical and data-driven conclusion skills.
    • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to drive complex issues to closure in a timely manner and clearly communicate the result.
    • Must exhibit self-motivation, demonstrate a sense of urgency and be capable of successful multi-tasking in a high-pressure, fast-paced matrix environment.
    • Manage quality issue diagnosis, root-cause determination, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions with the appropriate team(s)
    • Provide expert guidance and support quality teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and supply chain management to integrate quality initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar function. High-tech, Computer Manufacturing, or Electronic Manufacturing industry preferred.
  • 8+ years managing people in the same or similar quality-focused field.
  • Demonstrated experience /certification in Lean / Six Sigma a plus.
  • Project planning, leadership, and time management.
  • Statistics and Data Analytics principles.
  • Knowledge of database/reporting systems, and strong Excel skills.
  • Experience in working within a global organization and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring less-experienced team members.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.
  • Experience creating win-win scenarios with multiple stakeholders/interests to gain buy-in to meet quality objectives.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and strong ability to “think on your feet”.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
