The Director of Proposal Development plays a critical role in leading RQM+’s proposal development processes, ensuring seamless coordination across Business Development, Finance, Legal, and Operational teams. This position requires deep expertise in proposal strategy, pricing methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration to drive the success of RQM+’s commercial pursuits. The Director will oversee the Proposal Development Team, optimize internal workflows, track performance metrics, and maintain a high standard of accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all client-facing documents.
Responsibilities:
- Proposal Development Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end proposal development process, from initial client engagement through final proposal submission, ensuring alignment with RQM+ business goals and industry best practices.
- Oversee proposal writing, costing, and pricing strategy, ensuring that proposals are competitive, client-centric, and compliant with internal financial guidelines.
- Ensure a timely and accurate generation of proposals, rebids, or other key outputs to maximize revenue potential and meet client expectations.
- Partner with Business Development and Operations teams to ensure proposals reflect feasible operational strategies, resource planning, and risk mitigation measures.
- Serve as an internal consultant for pricing models, competitive intelligence, and proposal structure, ensuring alignment with market trends and organizational objectives
- Strategic & Business Acumen
- Align proposal development strategies with RQM+’s commercial objectives, ensuring a high win rate and revenue growth.
- Develop and implement best-in-class proposal development methodologies, leveraging industry benchmarks and best practices from leading CROs.
- Analyze proposal success rates, pricing strategies, and proposal performance to identify areas for process optimization and revenue maximization.
- Provide strategic guidance on proposal terms, risk assessment, and client engagement strategies, ensuring a balance between business objectives and client expectations.
- Act as a key liaison between Commercial, Operations, and Finance teams to drive cross-functional efficiency in proposal development.
- Optimize proposal workflows, leveraging automation and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement and refine proposal development tools, templates, and pricing models to standardize processes and improve response times.
- Maintain data integrity within Salesforce, and other tracking systems, ensuring accurate reporting and pipeline visibility.
- Lead initiatives to enhance team performance, process consistency, and quality assurance in all proposal deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging metrics and feedback to enhance the proposal development lifecycle.
- Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Proposal Development Team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.
- Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Provide guidance on best practices for proposal writing, pricing strategy, and client negotiations, supporting professional growth and team success.
- Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and training initiatives for new hires within the proposal development function.
- This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Business Management or related field and 8-10 years’ experience in clinical research industry or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in pricing models, proposal strategy, and business development support within a CRO or MedTech setting.
- Knowledge of Medtech, Pharma, and CRO Industries.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial budgeting
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and proposal management software.
- Excellent knowledge of proposals and budget processes and ability to interpret budgets and protocols.
- Possess strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of leading teams and mentoring talent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and drive process improvements
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
