ABOUT THIS ROLE
As the Director, Product Management (Alternative Investments & and Mutual Funds), you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and success of these products in alignment with the company's vision and goals. This role demands strategic vision (informed by experience), leadership and influence prowess, and a hands-on approach to drive the continuous evolution of value to the market, clients, and end-investors via this product set. By being directly responsible for the costs of product delivery versus the adoption and revenue acquisition, this role acts as, essentially, the CEO of the product set, and holds full accountability for the achievement of profitability goals and market penetration.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:

  • Perform Competitive Analysis of the product set, including identifying the addressable market and personas impacted, trends, consumer needs, and product scope.
  • Definition of a product target state and an incremental feature roadmap [with timeframe expectations] to achieve the target, informed by data and detailing ROI.
  • Develop OKRs to objectively measure progress on product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product execution, technology, finance, sales, marketing) to align product objectives with business goals.
  • Develop client-facing relationships as the face of your product. Leverage feedback flywheels to tune the product roadmap and incrementally evolve your product.
  • Develop and sustain strong, collaborative working relationships with other departments across Apex to build trust and understanding.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of product, engineering, sales and business professionals, towards the achievement of product goals.
  • Detailed knowledge of product processes, expectations, impacted personas, required partnerships and data footprint associated with the product.
  • Understand the end-to-end implications of your product in the custodial ecosystem.
  • Point of escalation for resolution of product development issues.
  • Establish clear goals and performance metrics to evaluate team and product performance.
  • Generate energy to motivate the team throughout the entire product cycle.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Define and support acceptance testing and quality assurance of your product. Work across the organization to bring other SMEs to partner if necessary.
  • Attendance and/or speaking engagements at industry conferences, relevant to the product domain.
  • Establish robust QA metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and identify areas for improvement, facilitating agile retrospectives and sprint reviews.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with QA standards and regulatory requirements, adapting processes as needed to support agile development practices.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with product marketing and other stakeholders to develop the value statements for the product and externally-facing collateral.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Relationship Management to drive adoption of your product set and consume feedback from these client-facing partners OR from clients directly.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration to foster understanding of your product set across the organization.
  • Develop scorecards to objectively communicate progress against stated OKRs.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Economics, Marketing or related field (or equivalent work experience) required; master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of prior work experience; 5+ years as a people manager
  • Proven experience in a leadership role in product development, owning a P&L.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams in an agile environment.
  • Strong ability to listen, but also to question assumptions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to adapt storytelling to different audiences based on their priorities and level of knowledge.
  • Experience in building and managing high-performing products within agile development frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating regression risks within an agile environment.
  • Understanding of user experience, web development, API standards, and Agile practices, with a strong preference for best practices and incremental delivery.
  • Ability to make decisions with imperfect information, lead without authority and be comfortable managing a team through ambiguity and complexity.

Work Environment

  • We are a hybrid working environment, you are expected to work from your local office 3 days/week
  • Position requires 25%+ time for travel to other offices.
