Director of Product Design

Role Overview

Farther is seeking an experienced Director of Product Design to elevate our Design function as we enter our next growth phase. In this critical leadership role, you'll own the design function, drive exponential improvements in our user experience, and work strategically with Product, Engineering, and Executive teams to build exceptional products for advisors and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and elevate the design function, driving exponential improvements in our product design and user experience
• Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy aligned with business goals and user needs
• Create and maintain design systems that ensure consistency and efficiency across all products
• Lead the design of our web and mobile products, crafting innovative and beautiful user experiences for advisors and clients
• Collaborate strategically with Product and Engineering leadership, providing strong advocacy for user-centric design
• Challenge and refine product ideas to ensure the best possible user functionality and experience
• Manage and grow a team of talented designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and innovation
• Establish and optimize design processes to ensure rapid delivery of high-quality designs
• Articulate design decisions to stakeholders, grounding them in user research and business impact
• Stay ahead of industry trends and bring fresh, innovative ideas to elevate Farther's product offerings

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of product design experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior leadership role
• Proven track record of owning and elevating a design function in a fast-growing company
• Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX/UI design skills across web and mobile platforms
• Experience in wealth management, fintech, or related complex product areas
• Demonstrated ability to shape product strategy through collaborative partnerships with engineering and product teams
• Expert in design tools and familiarity with front-end technologies
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into design decisions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate design vision to all levels of the organization
• Experience building and leading high-performing design teams
• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance short-term needs with long-term vision

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading design in a startup environment through significant growth phases
• Background in designing complex financial or data-intensive products
• Knowledge of behavioral economics and its application to product design
• Experience with design systems and scaling design processes
