Position Overview: 

The Director, Predictive Modeling will oversee and manage a small team of analysts and/or work independently while taking ownership of key modeling projects within our homeowners, auto, and umbrella lines of business. This role will require a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic insight to drive initiatives that enhance our pricing, risk assessment, and product development. The ideal candidate will have experience in the insurance industry, a proven track record in statistical modeling, and the ability to manage both projects and people effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts in the development and implementation of predictive models and statistical analyses for homeowners, auto, and umbrella lines of business.
  • Take full ownership of modeling projects, from conceptualization and data collection to implementation and ongoing evaluation.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Develop and refine the pricing strategy for high net worth personal insurance products, ensuring that models and decisions align with the company’s business goals and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, actuarial, product development, and IT, to ensure the successful execution of projects and modeling strategies.
  • Present findings, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in a clear, actionable format.
  • Drive process improvements and innovations within the analytics department to enhance model efficiency, data quality, and the overall decision-making process.
  • Ensure that all models and analyses comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring that deadlines are met and resources are appropriately allocated.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, new analytical techniques, and regulatory changes to maintain competitive advantage and ensure best practices are followed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Significant experience in the insurance industry, specifically in personal lines (homeowners, auto, umbrella) with a focus on statistical modeling and data analysis.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role, with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a team of analysts.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling techniques such as GLMs, regression analysis, and other predictive modeling methods.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of owning and delivering complex, high-priority projects on time and within scope.
  • Progress toward or attainment of actuarial credentials (ACAS/FCAS) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with large datasets and analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with senior management and translate technical findings into business strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset, with the capacity to balance technical rigor with business considerations.

Location: Full-time remote employment, where you can work anywhere in the USA. If you prefer, you can also work at one of the PURE Insurance offices located throughout the USA, including White Plains (NY), New York (NY), Warren (NJ), Chicago (IL), Boston (MA), Charleston (SC), Atlanta (GA), Fort Lauderdale (FL), Scottsdale (AZ), San Francisco (CA), and San Diego (CA).

The base salary for this role can range from $145K - $170K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
